What to consider when buying plants for your apartment

Plants make your space look much more alive and look more like home. This is why it is also recommended to have plants in your house because it has many benefits for your mental health. I know it is tempting to get an artificial plant that just looks pretty and you don’t have to think about it more than dusting it once in a while but they won’t give you any type of satisfaction. If we compare, having plants is easier and more manageable than having pets and you still have the feeling of taking care of another living being. It will take just a few minutes of your time every now and then to maintain your plants green and healthy if you choose the correct ones for your space and lifestyle.
When we live in an apartment in a big city, it is just not possible to have a garden in it but we can still have some pretty plants inside of it. There are plants that do not need much sunlight or water to survive and look beautiful so they won’t die if you forget to water them for a couple of days. This is what you aim for when considering getting plants and there are different styles of plants that would go well indoors.
LOW MAINTENANCE
Sometimes we don’t even have the time to wash our hair well, let alone take care of plants that need constant attention. This doesn’t mean that you cannot have a plant until you are a retired 80 years old person living in the suburbs. Look for plants that don’t need much watering and sunlight. Of course, this doesn’t mean you will forget about them and they will be there forever, but at least they will be still there, tall and beautiful if you forget for a couple of days.
KEEP THE HOUSE CLEAN
There are plants that lose their leaves very often and that would make it difficult to maintain a tidy apartment. If you are not into cleaning at all, you shouldn’t get plants that will leave trails of dirt. It doesn’t matter how beautiful they might look, if you don’t have the time to clean or just don’t want to, it is better to get small plants with no leaves so you don’t have to after them cleaning the mess.
PLANTS THAT REPEL MOSQUITOS
Another benefit of having plants is that some of them actually are natural mosquito repellants. Plants like citronella, lemon balm, catnip, basil, marigold, and lavender are highly recommended if you live in an area where your mosquitoes are a problem. These plants go well indoors and you won’t have the need to use bugs spay which the environment will surely appreciate and which are also very unhealthy for you, especially living in an apartment with not too many windows.
As you can see, it is not impossible for you to have a plant. You just need to be aware of your limitations in terms of space and time and find the right one for you.
